Wii Fit is a game that uses exercise routines to give people a boost to indulge in real life exercise activities. It is now used as a part of fitness regimens by professionals and for personal use alike. To help you get the most out of this health-promoting game, here are some Wii Fit tips that you can use to guide you.

The first and most important tip is to play the game everyday. The basic principle of this game is the introduction to exercise, by playing it everyday eventually you will be giving your body and mind the attention that they need to stay healthy and seek out other workout options. At the same time, you are able to have fun with the game unlocking contents and new exercise routines.

The second tip is to have patience. It is going to take plenty of time and energy to go to a higher level and repetitions. Though it is just a playful game, you should know that to unlock contents of the game level by level, it can be considered as a hardcore game. To unlock the content quicker, obviously you need to play it longer.

The third tip is to stay true to the principles of the game by not indulging in cheats. A half an hour of balance games is not really exercise. You can always choose to go for the exercises that will cause you to break a sweat such as strength training, advanced step, yoga and boxing. This will really push you to your limits and get you into the game.

Last but not least, use Wii Fit to complement with other forms of workout. This game is designed with the main aim to get people to be aware of their health. With regularity you will see an improvement in your overall health as you shed those extra kilos. Keep these Wii Fit tips in mind when you start your challenge.

I’ve known about the introduction of the Wii Fit game for probably six months now, and as I am already in the middle of a fitness campaign, it seemed the ideal fit for me (excuse the pun) – a game that not only was fun and could be done indoors, but also has an impact on my health seemed to good to be true. So finally I managed to be online when the Wii Package became available and snapped it up – the Wii Package comes with the Wii Fit game, the Wii Fit Board, the We Ski game and a Wii Sleeve (a protection sleeve for the Wii Fit Board)!!

The Game and Board

So there it was, the rectangular piece of plastic – that not only weighed almost ten pounds, but was particularly boring to look at. My first surprise was that there were no wires to plug in – OK so all the other controllers I have for the Wii are wireless, but I expected something like this to require wires as the measurements it’s undoubtedly going to make seem to be far more ‘analogue’ than data collected from the normal Wii controller. I find that the way you wave the Wii controller around isn’t always transferred to the screen exactly, and therefore I assumed a wireless device like the balance board would suffer as it seemed this kind of game would require a higher degree of accuracy – not that I would complain if it knocked a few (dozen) pounds of my weight.

I was actually impressed by the sturdiness of the balance board. It feels like a quality product – only time will tell if it will put up with the constant use it is undoubtedly going to get from me and my family. I note that many of the exercises state that you should not jump up and down on the board, this is a clue to the sturdiness I guess.

The first thing I was disappointed about is that it takes regular batteries (but they were included) – while the system does automatically switch the board off after a period of activity, I’m sure it’s going to cost a bundle in batteries – lo and behold, I find out that Nintendo also sell an ‘add-on’ that allows you to use chargeable packs – I feel with the money I’ve already spent on Wii Fit that they could include the rechargeable packs within the price.

So having received the game and the board, and managing to keep it away from the kids we put the game in the Wii. The first thing you have to do is calibrate the board – this takes a few seconds and is very easy to do – simply follow the onscreen instructions and you’re all done.

My first impression about the game was that I didn’t really need the instruction manual – everything was explained as I went along and the game told me when and how to use the board.
Wii Fit Plus replaces Wii Fit
Wii Fit Plus is a direct replacement for the original version of the game. Unlike normal games where the next version continues to be on sale when the new version has been released, Wii FitPlus will replace the old game completely. The older WiiFit will no longer be sold with the Wii balance board. From October 31st onwards if you buy a new wii fitness package, it will come bundled with Wii Fit+.

Improved exercise routines
When WiiFit creator Shigeru Miyamoto first spoke about his new game, he said that he wanted people to use the software how they would like and not how Nintendo would have them play it. The trouble with that is, a lot of people are lazy and would do better with a set exercise routine. Wii Fit Plus has this facility, as there are predetermined workouts that will help you achieve different goals, such as weight loss, strength and cardio fitness.

New calorie counter added
With the release of new game we will see a calorie counter added to the game. Calorie counters can be a big motivator for a some people. They may be very inaccurate but the presence of a calorie counter is enough to help people exercise harder and longer to reach their weight loss goals.

Wii Fit Plus mini game list
Here is a list of some of the mini games/exercises that will be included in the game

1.	Birds Eye Bulls -your Mii character is blended with a chicken and you move between numbered platforms chicken style

2.	Perfect 10 – a brain/body type game that exercises your mind as well as your body

3.	Segway circuit – This game is officially licensed by segway. You control your segway using the Wii balance board as you race around a circuit

4.	Island Cycling – like the running game in Wi Fit, but in this version running makes your bike go faster

5.	Snowball Fight – dodge snowballs and fight back!

The Nintendo Wii revolution continues with the pending launch of the new Wii Fitness products as announced at this year’s E3 2007. This brand new product from Nintendo, called Wii Fit, will take the form of a balance board controller accessory and a bundled exercise game.

The Wii Fitness products take off from where Wii Sports started by introducing active-play games that are not only great fun to play, but also great exercise as well. In fact the Wii balance board brings exercise and fitness for the entire body. The software and balance board is aimed at a large array of exercise based fun, including dancing, aerobics, balancing, and of course games.

The Wii Fit software uses the balance board to compile data in order to plan your fitness progress over a period of time. The software’s fitness measurement system can collect data about an individual in order to keep track of their fitness goals. The fitness readings are presented in the way of a graph that measures your body mass index (BMI) and will adapt your Mii character accordingly. The Mii character is a animated character that represents an individual player’s physique, so it’s important to enter your stats correctly for accurate progress analysis.

Once your personal settings are calibrated, you can then start to have fun playing the fitness mini games. One of the most fun Wii Fitness games looks like the football heading game, in which the players are required to move their heads in the right direction to head the oncoming balls. Other mini games include doing hula hoops by shaking your hips and a marble madness style game where your balance is key to winning. The more serious fitness style games include doing strenuous balancing exercises, press-ups, and yoga.

The release date has still not been announced and neither has the price, but the price is rumoured to be in the range of $49 to $69. What the new Nintendo Wii Fitness products will hopefully bring is a whole new line up of interactive games. Who knows yet, but I can already imagine the likes of skiing, snowboarding, skate boarding, and so on. Maybe these future games could be used in conjunction with the Wii remote for a complete interactive experience?

Whatever happens next, the Nintendo Wii and the new Wii Fitness range are taking the console to a new level that the likes of Microsoft and Sony will find tough to match, especially at Nintendo’s affordable prices.

I’m not that into video games unless they involve me actually doing something other than pressing buttons with my thumbs. I love Rock Band because I can sing and play the drums (on a semi realistic drum kit.) And I love Wii Fit because it actually makes exercising fun. No seriously, it does!

With Wii Fit you can create a character (and you will be weighed on the “balance board”) and that character will be based on your real height and weight. As you do activities your progress will be recorded.

What are the activities? Well there are many to choose from. Everything from running to yoga. There are activities aimed at burning calories and activities aimed at strengthening your body and improving your balance. Certainly you will find some activities to be more enjoyable than others but the good thing is there are many to choose from so you will surely find some that you enjoy (and which of course also improve your fitness.)

One of the cool things about buying the Wii Fit is that it comes with a “balance board” which can also be used with many other very cool Wii games that are now coming out. Most of the other Wii games that use the balance board don’t actually include it. You must buy the Wii Fit in order to get this balance board. So even if for some reason this game doesn’t click with you (and I think it will) you will still get a valuable piece of equipment that comes with it and can be used with other games.

Again, I’m not a huge video game fan. This is not a standard video game. It’s something that can appeal to people of all ages. And it’s the rare video game that isn’t a waste of your time. In fact I encourage you to “play” your Wii Fit as much as you can every day! Not only will you have a good time, you will also improve your fitness.
